B&W Matrix 801 Series 2 – Restored, Immaculate – R35,000
These are the speakers that recording studios around the world trusted to tell them the truth. The B&W 801 became the reference monitor at studios including Abbey Road, and the Matrix Series 2 is the version many people consider the classic.
“The most musically complete and revealing fullrange loudspeaker that I have heard to date.” (Stereophile, Lewis Lipnick)
- Matrix honeycomb-braced bass cabinet, which silences cabinet colouration
- Separate midrange head with B&W’s signature yellow Kevlar driver
- Metal-dome tweeter mounted on top in free air for a wide, open soundstage
- Deep, studio-grade bass, reaching into the low 20Hz range
- Built-in overload protection on the bass and midrange/tweeter
This pair has been fully restored and is in immaculate condition: studio-monitor honesty with real scale and authority, ready for another few decades of use.
Viewing in Johannesburg.
